How we tell our stories

Our articles answer specific questions about familiar objects, programs and customs, using primary evidence alongside original explanations, comparisons and reflections. Memories differ by place, family, and generation; a familiar experience should not be mistaken for a universal one.

AI assistance and factual checks

AI tools assist with drafting, editing, and building this publication. Historical claims carry numbered references to the sources used. We compare dates, mechanisms and descriptions with the relevant records, distinguish interpretation from evidence, and keep a private record of the review. This is an AI-assisted process, not an independent human or specialist fact-check. We do not invent interviews, expert quotes, or personal memories and present them as reporting.

What a useful article should add

A story should answer its title’s question and give readers something useful beyond a familiar subject: an explained mechanism, a revealing comparison, a worked example or a specific way to understand a historical record. We do not publish a weak draft merely to meet a schedule or a word target. Examples and calculations are labeled as such; they are not invented historical measurements.

Sources and artwork

We prefer museums, archives, and original records for historical facts. Our artwork accompanies the objects, settings, and experiences discussed in each story. Captions focus on those subjects. We choose rights-cleared photographs for recognizable people and historical objects, original diagrams for explanations, and occasional AI-assisted illustrations for interpretation. These are different kinds of evidence: an illustration is not an authentic archival photograph.

We preserve source photographs, creation records and reuse terms, and check that captions fit the actual image. Required credits appear with licensed photographs. Diagrams explain a mechanism or sequence without claiming to reproduce a historical photograph. About the artwork.

Dates and editions

Edition dates organize our launch collection across September 6–19, 2026. They are editorial labels. The separate publication date records when each story actually went online.

Our stories are not sponsored and currently contain no affiliate links. We have applied to Google AdSense. Advertising, when enabled following approval, will be labeled and kept distinct from editorial content. Sponsored content and affiliate links will be disclosed where they appear.
